H2O for Hope to Pour Fundraising Efforts into the Foundation
In a move that will strengthen efforts to focus the nation’s attention on Lung Cancer, we have formed a strategic partnership with H2O for Hope to create a bottled water fundraising program that will raise money for Lung Cancer research and treatment.
The Danville-based H2O for Hope, which is planning to distribute its private label bottled water to schools, businesses and residences throughout California and expand nationally, will donate 21 cents for every case of water to the Lung Cancer foundation. H2O expects to generate more than $100,000 for the Foundation in the first year.
“It’s a win-win for all,” said Bonnie J. Addario, founder of the almost three-year-old foundation. “What could be healthier than water, the source of life? By promoting something so healthy, we will also be raising awareness and boost our fundraising efforts.”
As one of the nation’s largest philanthropies devoted exclusively to eradicating Lung Cancer, BJALCF works tirelessly with a diverse group of physicians, organizations and individuals, worldwide, to identify solutions and make timely and meaningful change through research, early detection, education, prevention and treatment.
Bob Murphy, founder of H2O for Hope, based in Danville, California, says he was inspired to launch the fundraising initiative following the passing in 2007 of his mother Suzy Murphy who battled Lung Cancer for the last three years of her life.
“I wanted to find a way to do something to help others and do something positive in honor of my mother’s life,” said Murphy.
He didn’t have to look far. The statistics speak volumes for the need. Nearly one out of every two Californians is predicted to develop cancer at some point in their lives and it is likely that one in five persons will die of the disease. As Murphy knows firsthand: “Cancer affects not only the individual, it affects their family and our communities. Cancer affects all of us.”
Water made perfect sense, he says. The benefits of natural, unaltered water are endless. “In addition to cleansing the body of toxins and keeping our systems functional, it is the number one cure against daytime fatigue,” says Murphy. “This will have a dual purpose – raising awareness for Lung Cancer, and promoting the health benefits of water.”
Here’s how the H20 for Hope (www.bottlewaterforchairity.com) bottled water program works:
- Bottled water is delivered directly to customer’s home, office or schools.
- There is a two case minimum but contracts are not required. H2O for Hope bills customers each month. Service can be cancelled at any time without penalty or the worry of having funds withdrawn from a bank account.
- Customers don’t need to be present for the delivery. Every four weeks customers will receive as many cases as they need and order.
- Water is available in 16.9 FL oz. and is bottled by Niagara Bottling, LLC. Niagara was selected because it has the lightest form of plastic and is known as the most eco-friendly bottles in the industry.
- H2O for Hope promises the purest form of water possible. Derived from natural purified water, the water is not de-mineralized or tainted with artificial minerals, allowing us the company to provide water in its most natural and healthy state.
H20′s goal is to be in 20,000 homes by the end of 2009; 200,000 homes by end of 2010 and 1 million homes by end of 2011.
