We’re kicking off this Fall with a great line-up of events and ways to get involved in eradicating Lung Cancer. I hope you can join us for some or all of the following events, fundraising efforts, and initiatives.
But first, on the legislative front, thank you to BJALCF’s Deborah Mattos, Mattos & Associates, and the Lung Cancer Alliance for their continued and relentless efforts toward achieving funding for Lung Cancer Research through legislation. A special thank you to Mayor Gavin Newsom and Catherine Dodd, Deputy Chief of Staff, for their recent endorsement of Senate Bill 600 that, once passed, will provide needed funding for Lung Cancer Research in California. And an extremely special thank you to Assemblymember Mark Leno for his HERCULEAN efforts in keeping this bill alive.

Please join Bonnie, fellow LC survivors, our staff and volunteers at our new San Carlos, California office from 4-7pm for an afternoon of great company, delicious wine and appetizers in a casual setting to roll up our sleeves and brainstorm BIG on how to increase the survival rate of Lung Cancer as a united force. Join us on Saturday, November 21, 2009, for the fourth annual Simply the Best Dinner Gala with two-time EMMY award winner Kathryn Joosten, world-renowned mezzo-soprano Zheng Cao, and Top Chef Hosea Rosenberg, winner of Bravo’s Top Chef Season 5 at the San Francisco Fairmont Hotel. If you are over 40, never smoked, do not have a history of Lung Cancer, but have been exposed to second hand smoke or other environmental exposure, you may be eligible for a lung screening study at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta. Please contact the lung screening program at canscreen@sjha.org.
